Google has augmented the anticipation of the extremist during its Chrome OS event at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA. The event has shed light on the most anticipated Chrome OS but made an early notification that there will be no Beta versions yet. Mr. Sundar Pichai, Google’s Product Management VP, and Matthew Papakipos, Google’s Chrome OS Engineering Director, graced the event as presenters.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. That is, it’s “Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel” with the web as the platform. It runs on x86 processors (like your standard Core 2 Duo) and ARM processors (like inside every mobile smartphone). Underneath lays security architecture that’s completely redesigned to be virus-resistant and easy to update.
That is the more technical sense of the Chrome OS but it is essentially Google Chrome on Linux. Everything will be web based which means that if your netbook has gone astray, you can just replace it with a new one without loosing the more important chunky stuff like your archives. It is also super light as it boot straight into the browser in a matter of 7-seconds. They have also released chromium OS Videos and Technochasers can watch some of it below. The Google Chrome OS is expected to be launched by early 2010. Can the Google Chrome OS transpire as a better personal computing platform?
