Microsoft Delivers Office 2010 Beta

Microsoft has announced the Beta release of Office 2010 at Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in Los Angeles. Other office related products were made available such as the SharePoint Server 2010, Project 2010, Visio 2010, and Office Web Apps for businesses and Office Mobile 2010. The Office Mobile 2010 is tailored for Windows Mobile 6.5 devices and no plans were mentioned on backward compatibility for other devices.

The limelight for the Beta release was fixed on the Office 2010 where in major revisions and other inclusion were created. Some of the notable modifications made were the Outlook interface and SkyDrive integration. The SkyDrive will serve as Microsoft’s online storage device with a 25GB capacity. The Outlook will have added features like the SharePoint and Outlook Social Connector which will facilitate real time interaction and social (or business) networking feeds.     I tried Office 2010 with the Technical Preview build. It had a nice layout and significantly better than Office07 – my favorite Office version so far.

    Unfortunately the tech preview was littered with crashes especially Outlook. I had to revert back to 07 for now. Overall, I’m pretty excited to see this next year.
