Team Technologies, a Taiwan based company, has introduced a new series of Solid State Drives (SSD). An SSD emulates a hard drive but its runs on semiconductors with the use of integrated circuits unlike the usual hard drives that operates on magnetic or optical media. SSDs are consequently faster, more durable and quieter (of course, more expensive) compared to hard drives.

The P2 IDE SSD of Team Technologies will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. It measures 2.5 inches with an integrated IDE interface, MLC NAND flash memory chips and an MTBF of 2 million hours. Read/write speed for the 32GB models are up to 80/50 MB/s and 60/40 MB/s for the 64GB and 128GB models. The SSD also brags low power consumption, no noise, shockproof and lightweight features.
The P2 IDE SSD was cited to be 140% faster when compared to a conventional 2.5-inch SATA hard drive. Further details on pricing and availability were not given yet. Will there be a shift of preference to Solid State Drives for Technochasers?
